Key takeaways
- Pack your own lotion and a quality lip balm with sunscreen. The dry heat is real.
- Read restaurant menus before you arrive so dinner is for conversation, not ordering.
- Map your route between sponsor happy hours once the show floor closes.
- Leave room to be a tourist: the Bellagio's best sights are free and open around the clock.
Las Vegas is my hometown, and SuiteWorld 2026 will be my seventh. The conference is the reason you are there, but the city shapes the week: the dry air, the long walks between venues, the dinners and the happy hours after the show floor closes. A little preparation makes the whole week easier.
Pack for the dry heat
Even outside the summer months, Las Vegas is dry, and it shows up on your skin and lips by the second day.
- Bring your own lotion. Hotel lotion often contains alcohol and can dry your skin out more. One good all-purpose lotion is enough.
- Bring a high-quality lip balm, ideally with sunscreen. The free one in a conference bag probably will not be what you are used to, and you will be talking, smiling and presenting all week.
Make dinner about the conversation
Review the menus of the restaurants you plan to visit, including the ones along the promenade, before you step inside. Know what you like and what you will order.
It sounds small, but it changes the table. I have sat at many group dinners where everyone is studying the menu, and the people who already know what they want are free to talk. Those are the people I like to talk with at the table.
Book those dinners early too, and add a seat or two in case the group grows.
Map your happy hour route
After the show floors close for the evening, SuiteWorld sponsors host happy hours across the Strip. Decide in advance which ones matter most to you and map the route from one to the next, so the evening is spent with people rather than in hallways and rideshare lines.
Make time to be a tourist
My favorite place to be a tourist is the Bellagio, and the best of it is free and open 24 hours a day:
- The Bellagio fountain show, which runs every 15 to 30 minutes. One of the best views is from the Eiffel Tower observation deck across the street.
- The glass chandelier above the reception desk in the main lobby, one of the largest you will see anywhere.
- The Conservatory, a walk-through display that changes with the seasons and is not to be missed.
- If you have a sweet tooth, keep walking to the patisserie and its towering chocolate fountain.
See you there
If you are going to be at SuiteWorld and would like to meet, reach out directly and I will make time on my calendar.
